Mary "Maria Concetta Diminico" Voiland of Manchester passed away on March 21 at the age of 84. Mary is the daughter of the late Ferdinando and Maria Diminico of Manchester. She was preceded by her brothers Angelo and Joseph Diminco. She leaves behind her four children Lawrence Diminico of Manchester, Michael Voiland and wife Bethann of Colchester, her "One and Only" Linda Quental-Dadinos and husband Greg of East Hartford and James Voiland of Colchester. She leaves eleven grandchildren, Sarah Gambacorta of Ellington, Leah Voiland of Dallas, TX, Seana & Savannah Quental of Brooklyn NY, Rebekah Voiland of New Britain, Lindsea Quental of East Hartford, Kristie Dadinos of Glastonbury, Dylan Dadinos of Manchester, Matthew & Mia Voiland of Colchester and Adam Dadinos of East Hartford and six great-grandchildren: Kolton & Kody Gambacorta , Leila & Lexie Quental, Beatrice Ortega and Evelyna Jedra. She also leaves behind her dear friend and sister-in-law Josephine Diminco of Manchester and her three sons Peter, Joe and Tony.

Mary the first of her Italian-immigrant family to be born in the US- dedicated her life to fighting stigmas around mental illness and fighting for services for both those suffering from the disease and the family members caring for them. She was the founder of the Manchester Chapter of National Alliance for the Mentally Ill. Even being twenty years retired from the CT Dept. of Education didn't stop Mary from working for change has she continued writing her elected officials.

Visitation will take place on Sunday afternoon from 3-6 pm at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home on West Center St, Manchester. There will be a service at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 60 Church St. Manchester, on Monday 10:00 am. followed by a burial in St. James's Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to meet at Church.
