Obituary for Carol Legault (Dixon)

Carol Legault, 83, of Manchester, died peacefully on December 19, 2017 after a valiant fight with cancer. She was born on May 21, 1934 in New Britain, daughter of the late William and Caroline Dixon.

Carol lived most of her adult life in Manchester, graduating from Manchester High School, working at Manchester Trust Company, and raising her four children. She was an incredible homemaker- most notably her cooking and baking skills. She was also a talented seamstress, sewing cloths for her children when they were young. In addition, Carol was passionate about knitting, with her specialty being mittens. She knit them for everyone in the family as well as donating them to children in need. She also enjoyed bowling, playing golf, and was a shrewd card player. She looked forward to her weekly card games with her girlfriends and loved playing Shanghai with her family throughout her life. In recent years she took pleasure in working on jigsaw puzzles.

Carol is survived by her beloved husband, William, of 63 years, and their four children; Mary McConville and her husband Jay of Tolland, Theresa Renner and her husband Art of Tolland/South Carolina, Michael Legault and his wife Karen of Coventry, Patricia Legault and her husband Steve of Tolland; her grandchildren: Andrew McConville and his wife Megan, Justin, Nathan, and Kevin Legault, Leah Kaufmann and her husband Max, Neal Dansky, and Nicholas Paasch; her great-grandchild, Louis McConville; and two brothers, William Dixon and his wife Linda, and Robert Dixon and his wife Kathy, as well as many other family and friends.

The funeral service and burial for Carol will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations made in Carol’s name can be made to MARCH Inc., 222 McKee Street, Manchester, CT 06040, or Elks National Foundation online through www.elks.org or Elks National Foundation, 2750 N.
